Women of McQuaid

Women of McQuaid Jesuit

McQuaid Jesuit is committed to strengthening and expanding engagement with the women of our community. We recognize the vital and enduring role women play in sustaining the mission, culture, and future of McQuaid, and we seek to intentionally honor, include, and engage them as valued partners in the life of the school.

Men are what their mothers made them.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

The Commission for the Dignity of Women

The Commission for the Dignity of Women was established to cultivate a culture at McQuaid Jesuit that recognizes, honors, and upholds the dignity, leadership, and invaluable contributions of the women who serve within our school community. Rooted in the Jesuit commitment to respect for the whole person, the Commission seeks to foster an environment in which all women are treated with respect, professionalism, and care.

Through education, dialogue, and proactive initiatives, the Commission works to encourage thoughtful reflection on attitudes and behaviors toward women, promote healthy and respectful relationships, and challenge outdated workplace and social dynamics. By doing so, the Commission strives to help form young men of integrity, empathy, and justice who are prepared to lead and serve others with respect and dignity.

Her Influence. His Formation.

On Saturday, May 30, we hosted a group of more than 30 women for this inaugural event.  This gathering of mothers, grandmothers, wives and friends was a wonderful opportunity to share in meaningful reflection about what makes McQuaid Jesuit such a special place not only for the students and alumni, but also for the women in their lives. The conversation included an esteemed panel of voices from within our community including:

  • Ms. Vanessa Bucukovski, faculty and co-director of the Commission for the Dignity of Women.
  • Mrs. Mary Salluzzo, P ’18, graduate mother and wife of our school president.
  • Mrs. Lisa Soprano, P ’16, ’23  faculty member, as well as a member of the McQuaid Jesuit Board of Directors.
  • Mrs. Annette Weidmann, P ’24, ’26 staff in the Department of Mission & Ministry.
  • Ms. Heather Whiting, P ’25, ’28 VP of Advancement
