Specialty Programs

McQuaid offers a variety of specialty programs that address the unique needs or interests of specific groups within our student body. From seniors applying to college and emerging musicians, to new Knights looking to get a head start on acclimating to McQuaid, and student drivers, we have a program for you!

Dates: July 27 – 31, 2020 from 9 to 11:30 a.m.
Ages: Open to rising seniors from any school
Cost: $200

The best way to tell your story to a college admissions officer is through a well-written essay. Veteran members of the McQuaid Jesuit English department, along with the guidance department, will guide rising seniors in this focused college essay writing seminar, at the conclusion of which students will have a well-developed essay for their use on the Common Application. Each seminar is limited to 15 students. Please use the online form at the bottom of this page to register.  While preference is given to students of McQuaid Jesuit and Our Lady of Mercy, all students are welcome to sign up.

Dates: August 10-14, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Ages: Grades 6 – 12; any experience level. Open to non-McQuaid students.  No obligation to compete.

This camp is designed to both introduce middle school and underclassmen to the Speech & Debate program an McQuaid, as well as provide returning students a chance to practice their skills, meet their teammates, and prep for the coming competition season.

The focus will be on student specific needs for the coming season; mainly, upperclassmen will work with underclassmen to help them practice general skills and find events well suited to them. This is don to keep focus on student leadership through student mentorship.  We will use online Zoom sessions to meet in groups, and to view videos from past competitions, as well as to partner off for event work.
