Heart and Seoul Camp July 7-9, 2017
Heart and Seoul is a Korean culture camp offered by McQuaid Jesuit. The camp is open to anyone who wants to learn more about Korean culture, history, and heritage. Students from Sookmyung Women’s University in Seoul teach classes on Korea Today, Korean History, Dance and Music, Folktales, and Hangul, the Korean language. There are also Tae Kwon Do, drumming, and cooking classes.
McQuaid Jesuit students ages 13-18 are needed to volunteer as CITs and counselors working with the younger children. This combination of McQuaid Jesuit student volunteers working alongside student volunteers from Sookmyung University in Seoul to help and serve local kids and families is a very unique opportunity. You are strongly encouraged to consider participating.
Orientation and camp set up begins at 10 a.m. Friday, July 7. McQuaid Jesuit students will have a chance to get to know the other volunteers and university students from Korea. The camp runs from 4-8 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Saturday, and 1-6 p.m. Sunday. The cost for student participants is $40 which covers the meals, t-shirt, and closing banquet.
The camp is a wonderful international service experience. We are very grateful to the 16 Sookmyung University students and their professor who travel to Rochester to be with us. McQuaid students interested in volunteering and participating should contact Mr. Hood for more information.
