Memorial Dedication For SPC Glende, ’07

Hello, my name is Nick Boev, ’23 and I am very fortunate to be a part of a capstone project supporting a past McQuaid grad. My classmate, Henry Gerstner, ’23, and I are raising money for a memorial bench, which will be placed in the courtyard of McQuaid Jesuit. This project is to honor and memorialize SPC Theodore Glende, ’07 who was killed in the line of duty while serving his country overseas in Afghanistan. The project was started by another alumnus, Lt. Col. Mark Tallo, ’80, of the United States Army, who met SPC Glende while stationed overseas together. Lt. Col. Tallo saw Glende wearing a McQuaid shirt in the gym on base and the McQuaid connection was made in the most unlikely of places. Henry and I, along with members of the McQuaid community decided that this capstone was a great way to show our respect to SPC Glende for his ultimate sacrifice. This Capstone means alot to us because we have lived the brotherhood at McQuaid and we feel that this story shows the lengths to which the brotherhood extends.
