McQuaid Jesuit attended the first annual Alfred University cross country invitational on Saturday, September 8. It was a smaller meet that involved five schools – McQuaid, Addison, Hammondsport, Arkport and Seneca (Erie, PA).
The slightly hilly course measured 4 kilometers. Max Chew, ’20, led the charge as he edged out fellow competitors from Hammondsport and Seneca to take home first place with a time of 13:27. Max’s time was three seconds ahead of the next runner. His time also secured a new course record.
Following behind Max in close proximity were Spencer Dovi, ’20, Brendan Byrne, ’19, and Ryan Martin, ’20. The three Knights took the 4th, 5th and 6th place spots, respectively, with only a two second spread between them.
Bryce Gunderman, ’20 capped off the scoring group with an 11th place finish, and Henry Trost, ’20 was just a couple of seconds back for 12th place. JR Klee, ’20 rounded out the Varsity top 7 with a 17th place finish.
McQuaid took 1st place at the meet, earning the team title with 27 total points. Seneca (PA) was runner up with 5 points.
