On December 10, McQuaid Jesuit welcomed Nativity Prep’s eighth grade class for their inaugural retreat day. Students reflected on finding their purpose, the gifts they bring to their community, and how to navigate the transition from middle school to high school. They spent the majority of the day in the Wegman Center and even had the chance to listen to Agape Latte 6.0 by Mr. Dan Bates. McQuaid faculty and staff assisted with the day along with seniors Reuben Daniel, Jason DiMarco, Josh Gaddy, and Chhabi Gautam.
Nativity Prep is a Catholic middle school dedicated to transforming the lives of undeserved students through strong academics coupled with a sense of spirituality, morality, and personal responsibility. Nativity schools have been around since 1971 when the Society of Jesus founded the very first one in the lower east side of Manhattan. Today, there are 49 Nativity schools across the country. The Rochester Nativity School opened in September 2009 with help from McQuaid Jesuit and the Sisters of St. Joseph.
