RIP: Colin P. Byrnes, ’98

In your prayers, please remember the soul of Colin P. Byrnes, ’98.

Byrnes, Colin P.

Tampa – Colin Patrick Byrnes, age 39, of Tampa, FL, passed away on July 6, 2019 after battling a series of health issues. He is survived by his beloved son, Jameson Patrick Byrnes; his father, Kevin Byrnes of Clearwater Beach, FL; brother Brian Byrnes and his wife, Macarena, of Miami; sister Meghan Chapman and her husband, Scott, of Rochester, NY; nephews Bautista and Bastian Byrnes and nieces Lilly and Maeve Chapman. He was predeceased by his mother, Maureen Knerr Byrnes, in 2015.

A devoted father, Colin loved spending time with his son Jameson, attending sporting events together, swimming in the pool, watching movies, and cheering for the Buffalo Bills.

Born in Suffern, NY, Colin spent his childhood in St. Petersburg, FL, Baltimore, MD, Long Island, NY and Rochester, NY, the city where he felt most at home.

Those who knew Colin during his time as a student at McQuaid Jesuit High School and Loyola University Maryland, knew he always tried to follow the Jesuit ideal of being a Man for Others. He was instrumental in bringing the KAIROS spiritual retreat in 1997 to McQuaid, where it is still active and thriving today.

An entrepreneur at heart, Colin loved the business world and learning new marketing and sales trends. He was a skilled networker, always looking to make connections, most often for the benefit of others. He was involved in a variety of professional and philanthropic organizations in Rochester and Tampa, and volunteered with the Ronald McDonald House and Big Brothers Big Sisters.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him.
May his soul and all the souls of the faithful departed, through the Mercy of God, rest in peace.
