At last weekend’s National Catholic Forensic League’s qualifying tournament, the McQuaid Speech & Debate team once again placed first in sweeps both for the tournament and for the 2018-2019 season as a whole. The following students will represent McQuaid at the NCFL’s Grand National Tournament in Milwaukee over Memorial Day Weekend:
Lincoln Douglas Debate – Zach Briggs, ’21
Public Forum Debate – Daniel Backus, ’20 / Connor Carrigan, ’21
Extemporaneous Speaking – Michael Mitrano, ’20
Dramatic Performance – Mike Pavone, ’19 and Jake Longuil, ’20
Oral Interpretation of Literature – Rene Ouimet ’19 and Payton Petkus, ’20
Original Oratory – Aiden Aguirre, ’20 and Gagan Timsina, ’20
Congratulations as well to senior Mike Pavone on being selected as this year’s recipient of the Coaches’ Excellence Award, which recognizes the league’s outstanding senior. This marks the fourth consecutive year that a McQuaid student has won this prestigious award.
