Several McQuaid students competed in the 25th annual Alice B. Wilson Literary Awards Contest. Sponsored by Friends of Brighton Memorial Library and the Brighton Memorial Library Gift Fund, the annual contest is open to all students in grades 6-12 who live in or attend school in Brighton. Students compete in Junior (grades 6-9) and Senior Divisions (grades 10-12). Cash prizes are awarded in fiction, non-fiction, and poetry categories.
In the Prose, Fiction Senior Division, senior Matthew Sharpe placed second for his piece, “Eden, Alive.” Sophomore Bobby McCann was an honorable mention for his work, “The Poet of Paris.”
