Varsity Basketball tops East; 70-62, then beats Fairport 54-51

Congratulations to your McQuaid Jesuit basketball Knights, who overcame top-ranked East High on Friday night by a score of 70-62.  Kobe Long led the way, scoring his 1,500th career point for the Knights, and had 23 points in the game.  Articles appeared in the D&C and on the Pickin’ Splinters website…click through the links below for more coverage, photos, and highlights from the game.

ETA: McQuaid went on to face Fairport on Monday night, and won 54-51.  After being held scoreless in the first half, Kobe Long exploded for 22 second-half points to lead McQuaid over Fairport. Long had 16 of his points in a fourth quarter that saw him shoot 9-for-9 from the free-throw line. Jermaine Taggart added 15 points for the Knights, who were 16-for-21 from the line as a team.  The team will travel to Edison on Friday, February 7, for a 6:15pm game.  The team hopes to add another “W” to their 10-7 record.
