The indoor track and field team placed 3rd overall out of all Class A and B teams in the Rochester Relays on Friday night at RIT. The Knights took the victory in the 4×200 double relay, with the team of Chris Ryder, Andrew Passero, Sam Perozzi, and Carson Larry. Another victory was secured in the weight throw, where the team of Josef Brunner and Gabe “The General” Gelke both threw big personal bests, with Brunner throwing 49’0” and Gelke throwing to a new school record and national qualifying standard of 56’10”. Gabe’s throw currently ranks him in the top 15 in the state, and #2 in Section V.
The varsity basketball team traveled to Liverpool on Saturday, and emerged victorious with a 65-58 win. Jermaine Taggart had 23 points, while Kobe Long added 15.
The varsity hockey team played back-to-back games on Friday and Saturday, starting out with a trip to play St. Joe’s at the Harborcenter in Buffalo. While the team ultimately fell to St. Joe’s 1-2 in OT, they bounced back on Saturday with a win over McQuaid’s longtime rival Aquinas, beating the Lil’ Irish 3-1. The ski team raced at Hunt Hollow on Friday evening, taking 1st place in their second meet of the year. McQuaid Jesuit skiiers took the top 4 placings in the varsity race. Sawyer Duserick led the way with the fastest time, followed by Will Bailey, Drew Bailey, and Ryan McCarthy.
