We want to share with the McQuaid Jesuit community exciting news with respect to our search for a new President. Our 12-member Presidential Search Committee, with input from well over 100 other members of our community, has just completed its work. As part of a lengthy process that commenced last Spring, in late October the Committee selected two finalists who took part in robust campus visitation days. Each candidate met with both our Search Committee, and with community group members. Informed by this community-wide engagement, and after faithful discernment, the Committee proposed one of these two eminently qualified finalists to the Trustees, for approval as McQuaid’s next President. We are pleased to announce that our Trustees unanimously endorsed the appointment of Stephen R. Salluzzo, ’90, P’18, as McQuaid Jesuit’s next President.
Mr. Salluzzo’s selection comes after a rigorous search process conducted in partnership with DRG Talent, a national leader in talent consulting and executive searches for schools and nonprofits, with particular expertise in Jesuit leadership placement. With DRG Talent’s assistance, the Committee sifted through dozens of applicants for the position. Mr. Salluzzo’s leadership experience includes service, since 2015, as President of Bishop Kearney High School. During Steve’s tenure, among other things, Kearney’s enrollment increased significantly. Steve also devoted substantial efforts to fundraising which, together with careful fiscal management, resulted in the completion of significant new capital projects on the campus, and the establishment of numerous scholarships which support the education of deserving students. Steve is an active member of the Rochester community and has served on several boards including the Golisano Foundation, the Rochester Diocesan School Board, the Section V Athletic Council, Compeer, and the Middle States Steering Committee.
Steve Salluzzo was raised in Rochester and graduated from McQuaid Jesuit in 1990. Steve earned a Bachelor of Science degree at Ithaca College, and thereafter his master’s degree from St. John Fisher University. In the weeks ahead, we will collaborate with Steve and with Peter Rodgers, our Interim President, on a mutually determined start date that will be on or before July 1, and we will begin the transition process. Please join us all in welcoming Steve Salluzzo to McQuaid Jesuit.
