McQuaid Jesuit is excited to partner with I Have The Right To, the hub for students, parents, educators and community members looking for information, support, and avenues of action against sexual assault, to hold its second one-day summit on healthy relationships and consent. Students from McQuaid Jesuit are actively involved in developing and running the event.
The day will feature a keynote address by Jackson Katz, internationally recognized educator, author, and activist who focuses on gender violence prevention and promoting healthy masculinity. Jackson is the author of several influential books, including The Macho Paradox, Man Enough, and Leading Men, and is known for his work in schools, universities, and professional organizations across the globe. The day will also include breakout sessions, workshops led by retired NFL player James Smith-Williams and retired NHL player Pete Leboutillier, a survivor panel, and more.
Breakout sessions will address what makes for strong relationships, understanding one’s digital footprint, healthy masculinity, the role of artificial intelligence in navigating relationships, preparing for college, and more.
In addition to the student programming, there will be a dedicated parent track. Parents are welcome to attend the keynote with students and then participate in their own workshops that cover similar topics from a parent’s perspective, providing tools, guidance, and resources to support their children and foster healthy relationships.
High schools of all types (public, private, charter, religious) are invited to send one or more teams, each consisting of up to six participants, at least one participant being a teacher, counselor, or staff member. The registration fee for a team of six is $400, which includes access to all programming, light morning refreshments, and lunch.
Individual attendees (teachers, counselors, parents) may register for $75.
