Steven L. Smith, ’04 is the CEO and co-founder of Perdix Software.  Perdix Software’s signature product, MOLI, is an information processing system for digital manufacturing.

Steve was the most recent speaker at our Alumni Career Forums on October 24. Steve spoke to students about his path through high school and college and the challenges that come with starting your own business.

Growing up during a time when computers and the internet were just finding their legs, he found great inspiration in technology, building his skills in tandem with the exponential growth of the web. Proving himself to be a driving force at all levels of business, Steve has held a variety of positions that include significant technical and executive experience in both the non-profit and private sectors.

Steve graduated from Nazareth College (now Nazareth University) in 2008 with a BA in Music and a minor in Technical Writing. He credits his time at McQuaid for encouraging his passion for music and composition. In an increasingly digital world, Steve chose to pursue careers in the Technology field rather than continue his work as a piano accompanist.

Steve’s advice to students with an entrepreneurial spirit is to first identify a problem with a current product or practice. Only then can you begin working to passionately solve problems and grow a business.

Thank you to Steve for his support of our current Knights and best of luck in all his future endeavors!
