Be A Light

The year 2020 has been anything but ordinary, and as we head into the final stretch, there are still many unknowns. For most of us, these times are unsettling – maybe even unnerving – but we know we will get through these days because we have the support and resources in place to do so. Many others; however, have greater concerns regarding health and personal finances. Where finances are concerned, some are serious enough to have families questioning whether they can afford to keep their sons at McQuaid given other competing priorities. This is where we as a McQuaid community come together and shine.

Walter Payton said, “We are stronger together than we are alone.” I cannot think of a more fitting sentiment right now. It is in times like these that the bonds of brotherhood are strengthened. We dig a little deeper. We come together to ensure that all McQuaid Jesuit students and their families don’t have to make the decision to leave, because we are Men (and Women) for Others who will step up and lend a hand to a fellow knight in their time of need. We care deeply about our mission and the achievements of our students – at present and into the future. We are committed to our McQuaid Jesuit family.

I have tremendous hope every day as I walk through the doors at 1800 South Clinton Avenue, because even in times of uncertainty, there is a great light that shines. It shines through the energy of not only our students, but our talented faculty and staff committed to success. This success is made possible in great part because of the steadfast support that comes from you – our loyal alumni, parents, and friends.
Thank you for all you have done and will continue to do this coming year. Your dedication is making an impact every day in the lives of these young knights. Thank you for “being a light.”

Gratefully yours,

Vice President of Advancement

14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:14-16
