UPCOMING PA EVENTS:

Wanted: McQ Garment Sale Donations
It’s springtime — that time of year when you take inventory of your son’s closet and discover all those things he has outgrown.  Please consider donating those McQ dress code items, including sport coats, belts, shirts, and pants, that are in excellent condition.  Your donations will be included in our popular fall garment sale.  Kindly clean and hang the sport coats and shirts, neatly bag the rest, and drop them off in the front office from now until the end of May.   AMDG!

Mark Your Calendar:  McQ Garment Sale – August 2019
The Annual McQ Garment Sale will take place in August.  Stop by McQ to shop for your son’s gently used dress code clothes for the next school year.  Additional details to follow.

GOOD NEWS:

Senior Parent Send-Off
The McQ cafeteria was transformed into a festive atmosphere as parents/guardians of the Class of 2019 celebrated together on May 23rd.  With the beautiful voice of our own Amy Sheffer, Administrative Assistant for Athletics, singing in the background and delicious hors d’oeuvres overflowing on the tables, the parents/guardians were able to share their fond memories at McQuaid Jesuit!  Whether it was recounting a tale from a musical or a win on the football field, they were able to connect and enjoy the last couple of weeks at McQuaid. Congratulations on your son’s graduation!

Thank You
A big thank you to everyone in the McQuaid community who attended and volunteered at our many events. Your participation and support is what makes them a success! A special thanks to Andi Balland (P ‘22), Kelly Darby (P ‘16, ‘19), and Cathy Tan (P ‘19, ‘21) for leading our Parents’ Association and to the other PA Executive Committee members Maureen McRae (P ‘20), Laura Cullen (P ‘21), and Nicole D’Anna (P ‘24). Your hard work, dedication, and commitment to McQuaid have been greatly appreciated.

Mothers for Others
A special thank you to Connie DiFelice (P ‘19) for her many years of leadership and service to Mothers for Others. Connie started Mothers for Others with a vision to follow in her grandmother’s footsteps and selflessly serve people in need. We appreciate all she has done for our McQuaid family and the community   She will be missed! Please welcome Glenna Colaprete (P ‘21) as the new Mothers for Others co-chair. Glenna has been invaluable to MFO updating the website and volunteering. This summer Glenna will be busy working alongside Alicia Smith (P ‘19, ‘21, ‘24) planning exciting MFO events for the next school year.  To the parents, guardians, and students who volunteered at MFO events — thank you! Your time and commitment to serving our community is commendable and we look forward to seeing you again at our events next year.  Click here to learn more about Mothers for Others.

NOTES:

Host Families Needed
McQuaid’s International Student Program is looking for host families and we need your help!    The host family would provide the student with housing and specific amenities, as well as assist the student in learning the local customs and transportation systems and becoming acquainted with the American lifestyle.  If you or someone you know is interested in experiencing a different culture by hosting an international student, please contact Yinghua Yang, Director of International Student Program, at yyang@mcquaid.org.

COMMUNITY BULLETIN BOARD
Is there an event happening in Rochester that would benefit our parent community? Is your place of worship offering a workshop that reflects our McQuaid values and mission? Is so, this is a perfect place to share the news! Please email the announcement and event details to pa@mcquaid.org to have it included on our Parents’ Community Bulletin Board!
