Christian Service Opportunities

Heart and Seoul is a Korean culture camp offered by McQuaid Jesuit. The camp is open to anyone who wants to learn more about Korean culture, history, and heritage. McQuaid Jesuit students ages 13-18 are needed to volunteer as CITs (counselors in training) and counselors working with the younger children. McQuaid Jesuit students get the unique opportunity to volunteer alongside students from Sookmyung Women’s University in Seoul, who will be leading many of the activities around Korean history and culture.

The camp will be run from July 12 – July 14, 2019.  Hours can fulfill the Sophomore theme.  You can find more information about Heart and Seoul Camp on our website or by contacting Mr. Hood.

Over the summer, Mary’s Place runs a weekday camp for refugee children from July 1 – August 9, 2019. High school volunteers are needed to supervise and run activities with the children. This is an excellent opportunity to fulfill Sophomore and Junior theme hours or the Senior Capstone Service Project.

Additional information on how to sign up will be sent out after Easter Break.  Open to all McQuaid 7th and 8th graders in good academic and disciplinary standing with the school.

Saint’s Place is a local organization that serves refugees to help them get resettled and acclimated to the Rochester area. Their annual summer “Super Sale” helps fund many of their programs and supports refugee families.

Interested students should directly contact Ms. Michele Quinn via email at michele@saintsplace.org or 585-385-6860. Students have to contact Ms. Quinn before volunteering, the deadline to sign up to volunteer is Monday, June 24th.
