Over the last two weeks, McQuaid participated in the Great Ignatian Challenge, a friendly food drive competition among nine Jesuit schools. The challenge, now in its fifth year, seeks to raise students’ awareness of hunger and inspire them to take action by working to fill their local food banks, pantries, and community centers with much-needed provisions. This is the first year McQuaid participated in the challenge.
On Wednesday, students loaded a Foodlink truck with more than 7,000 pounds of food donated in person by students, faculty, staff, and parents. In addition, another 1,650 pounds of food was donated online. In total, more than 8,500 pounds of food was donated to Foodlink, a Rochester food bank that distributes nearly 20 million pounds of food annually to a network of nonprofit partners.
Thank you to everyone who participated!
