Recap from Coach Stewart:
Congratulations to the indoor track and field Knights!  On Thursday, March 4, the Knights of McQuaid Jesuit looked to defend their sectional title from 2020.  With many familiar faces from last season, to the handful of new faces this season, the impact was still the same!  The team earned a comfortable victory over runner-up Irondequoit.  After 13 events were contested, the Knigths accumulated 100 points to Irondequoit’s 59.

McQuaid took top honors in three events.  Nick Wood finished 1st in the 55m hurdles.  Later on, Carson Larry broke the tape in the 300m dash.  The 4×400 team of Ed Hall, Alex Rita, Carson Larry and Parris Smiley also broke the tape for the Knight’s third victory of the day.  McQuaid showed some great strength in the runner-up spots as well.  Aldrin Wilson took 2nd in the shot put, Collin Brown was 2nd in the 3200m, and Connor Kerr and Jacob Anderson were 2nd in the 1000m and 1600m, respectively. The 4x800m relay team of Joe Scherer, James Doerr, Kerr and Anderson also finished in the runner-up spot.  Other points came in from Jacob Kimbrew (shot put), James Kauper (high jump), Collin Brown (1600m run), Scherer and Doerr (600m run), Mike Himlin (3200m run), and Wood and Smiley (300m run).

This is the 16th title for the indoor track program, and adds to the legacy of being McQuaid Jesuit’s winningest team in school history!  Congratulations McQuaid Jesuit Knights!  2021 was a total team effort!
