on Sunday, September 6, 2020 Joseph A Walther Jr, loving husband, and father passed away peacefully at the age of 76 years old. Joe was born on October 10, 1943 in Rochester, NY to Joseph Sr and Mary (Kellett) Walther. He was a graduate of McQuade Jesuit HS in Rochester and John Carroll University in Cleveland, OH. He was married for 54 years to the love of his life, Theresa (Teri) Sanderl and had three children. Greg, Jeff and Karyn.
Joe and Teri relocated to Phoenix, Arizona in 1977 and relished in living in the Grand Canyon State. They spent countless hours traveling the state and enjoying the many parks, backroads and adventures that awaited them in the Southwest. Joe spent a career in the restaurant/hospitality industry and in retirement found a passion in working at State Farm Stadium as well as Salt River Fields in Event Security. Joe was an avid sports fan and delighted in recounting tales of his numerous conversations with well-known athletes, coaches and other celebrities. Joe was also a great friend of Bill W. and spent the last 33+ years sharing his story along with mentoring and influencing others.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Sr. and Mary as well as brother David Walther. He is survived by his wife Teri, his children Greg (Beth) Walther, Jeff (Veshiem) Walther and Karyn (Stefan) Schmitt. He is also survived by his siblings, Tom (Ann) Walther, Ann (Sandy) Gurney, Jim (Kathy) Walther, John (Sharon) Walther, sister in law, Joanne Sanderl, grandchildren Zackary (Alex) Walther, Connor (Cassie) Walther, Kendall (Cory) Boguslofski, Kaitlin Schmitt, Michael Schmitt, Ryan Schmitt and 4 great grandchildren-soon to be 5!
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him.
May his soul and all the souls of the faithful departed, through the Mercy of God, rest in peace.
