Senior Charles Laniak Named National Merit Finalist

Congratulations to senior Charles Laniak who has been named a 2021 National Merit Scholarship Competition (NMSC) finalist. High school seniors across the country compete annually for 7,600 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $30 million. More than 1.5 million juniors entered the 2021 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2019 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. The nationwide pool of finalists represents less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors.

Winners of Merit Scholarship awards are chosen from the finalist group based on their abilities, skills and accomplishments. NMSC evaluates the finalist’s academic record, information about the school’s curriculum and grading system, PSAT/NMSQT Selection Index score, the high school official’s written recommendation, information about the student’s activities and leadership and the finalist’s essay.

Scholarship winners will be announced in the spring.
