From March 30 through April 1, McQuaid’s IgKnighters FIRST Robotics Competition team attended the Buckeye Regional Qualifier in Cleveland, OH. This was an unprecedented THIRD visit to a qualifying tournament by the team in one season. Prior to Buckeye, our student-built robot, Scorpion, traveled to Florida in Week 1, and competed at RIT in Week 3. Each time Scorpion was rebuilt and improved. The team worked overtime to pack in, compete, pack out, and then improve the robot three times in five weeks.
As expected, Scorpion had a fantastic run at the Buckeye tournament. The team kept itself in the top 15, and usually the top 10, from the very start. When alliance picking began, McQuaid was selected for the number two team even though we were ranked 13 at the time. Our alliance partnership was Team 120 The Red Dragons from Cleveland, OH and Team 2252 The Mavericks from Milan, OH. It was a tough round of competition, and McQuaid was eliminated right before the finals.
Three very tough tournaments, over thirty very tough IgKnighters, and one gritty robot. Congratulations on one of our best seasons ever!
